Dating to Circa 1880 this Tantalus after initial advice from my fellow dealers here in Ireland would appear to be a very rare example with a super rare patented locking mechanism. Members of both The Premier Antique Dealers of Ireland and The Irish Antique Dealers Associtaion have admired this piece which currently sits in my Gallery window. The Cut Crystal decanters are all in good condition and the open silver plated frame has a wonderful twin Corinthian column support which (when unlocked) extends vertically to release the decanters. The frame has floral and vine design and the piece is raised on the original wooden base. It has the original key. The Design is very Paul Storr but unfortunatedly the Tantalus is not marked as it was most likely a bespoke piece.
